What's a good domain name?
Well one that is descriptive of your program or service! But one thing that is best of all is using your own name.
It's unique in most cases. It describes YOU and is easy to tell someone, if your name is easy to spell!
How do I get my own domain name?
All domain names are registered by what are known as "Domain Name Registrars"!
When you visit one of these Domain Name Registrar Websites, they'll usually provide a place where you can type in the name of the website you want to register and it will let you know if it's available or not!
If it is, then Great! If it's not - some sites will give you choices of available names based on your 1st choice!
It can take a little time to get what you want but its worth the effort.
Remember: Try using your name if its simple to remember!
With my Surname - once I say it to someone - its amazing the combinations people come up with - BUT once you are better known then people tend to remember. So when I'm more famous I'll get mine! Well I've not become famous but I have now got a website with my own name - www.timbrownlaw.com
Finding a Domain Name
To help you find out if your domain name is available and to give you a few ideas, I recommend http://www.godaddy.com
One thing to be aware of with Godaddy and that is they do try to do a lot of selling of other services during your registration. Ignore them all - just keep on going through once you've selected your domain name and go to the checkout!
Recommended Registrar
There are a number of very good Domain Name Registration Companies out there. But I'm going to recommend that you look at a company called Dynadot.com Dyndot's Website
They offer very good pricing and services and ease of managing your domain name(s).
A very good Video Course on Domains and Websites
I actually found them through Phil Craig's DomainsIntoDollars Videos which include some very informative, well presented vidoes covering registration to website creation geared towards monetizing websites.
I'd even recommend it as a starter course regarding getting Online even though I'm going to be doing the same thing here, His videos are out and ready to go and at a silly price.
