Welcome to the 'I Want Online Now!' newsletter. I will try to avoid any hype, whatsoever. If any of you notice me starting to sound like one of those so-called gurus out there, please let me know. I would prefer you do it nicely, of course.

This newsletter contains ongoing lessons and articles about running an online business. Please feel free to send in any suggestions you have, i.e., lessons you've learned the hard way since you've been online. Maybe between us all, we can help others make the move to the internet without losing everything they own.

This is a weekly newsletter, published on Mondays. There will also be a classifieds only issue that comes out on Fridays, as soon as we have enough subscribers (at least 100). In addition, we will be running solo ads whenever they come in. Both the classified ads issue and the solo ads will have free ad contests. One of the solo ads each week will contain an ad code. Hi Everyone!

I'm back! It's great to be home, after driving 670 miles on Saturday. Traffic was so backed up in Maryland that I didn't get past Virginia before quitting for the day. Of course, the fact that I was playing on boulders in Great Falls National Park on Thursday may have contributed to my lack of energy! I had a great time in Maryland. I got to see my brand new nephew, as well as both of my brothers and their wives. Baby and Mom are doing great and I got a kick out of watching my brother pamper his wife. :)

I took it easy yesterday, so the newsletter is going out a little late today. The articles I have included today come from a new source. It's great to find new articles that show a different perspective. I especially like Shahnaz Rauf's articles and you'll see a couple more in the coming issues. I wanted to give you alternative views on what kind of products you should be selling online, and the sometimes conflicting beliefs in whether or not you should put out a newsletter, join an affiliate program, or sell your own products. If you spend much time online, you'll find all of these different viewpoints anyway. I'll also give you my viewpoint, but you will have to make your own decision. I'll try to give you tips and techniques to help you along, no matter what business you decide to get into.

All sites with an asterisk (*) after them are ones I have personally used and found helpful. I am a little hesitant in regards to 123-web-host.com, because it has had several small outages. These have never lasted long, but it is still alarming if you have customers trying to reach the website.

I have used several articles from Online Business Basics (http://www.onlinebusinessbasics.com) and have found them very useful. I have not actually joined, but I suspect the rest of the site will be just as useful.

While I have used AWeber as an autoresponder, I have never used it for my newsletter. The last time I tried it, it only had text capabilities, not html. As far as I'm concerned, html is vital for a newsletter. Other than that, AWeber is fine. Proautoresponder is my favorite, however, they limit the number of leads or subscribers you can import in a month to 5000. If you export and reimport those leads into the same or another autoresponder campaign, they will count each import as a complete new set of leads/subscribers. Since I import my subscribers into different autoresponders based on certain criteria, then move them to the newsletter afterward, each subscriber gets counted twice. This, in effect, limits me to 2500 per month. Quicktell has no limits, other than you can import no more than 10000 at one time. The only difficulties I have with them are that: 1) You can only import one group at a time. If you have to move more than one group, you have to wait until the first one has finished before you can start the second. 2) Importing or deleting is extremely slow. If you need to remove several bad addresses or unsubscribers at once, you could be at it for quite a while. It takes about a full minute to remove one person. Multiply that by 100 deletes, and you're looking at an hour and a half! I tried GetResponse, but wasn't happy with it either. It looks like they all have some problems. If anyone finds one that is perfect, let me know! Of course, all of these are relatively inexpensive, unlike some of the list servers out there. I certainly can't afford them!

I hope the sites I've listed are useful to you. There are many, many more out there, so feel free to look around. I personally got overwhelmed at first, trying to sift through everything. The above are mostly the ones I settled on, after much time and effort.
